Features: Romanticism can be said to be artistic liberalism; it was actually born under the influence of the French Revolution. Romantics pursued individual freedom and were not bound by artistic conventions, leading to intense clashes with Neoclassicism. The Romantic period was the earliest flourishing period of the sudden and vigorous creation of the language of art itself. However, because the Romantics questioned and criticized the phenomena of early capitalist society, it carried a nostalgic tone, and in its later stages, it tended to lean towards decline and pessimism.
