Practical News Writing Second Edition

Author: Kang Wenjiu, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2002-09-01
Features: This textbook was published in September 1996 and won readers over with its practicality, having been printed five times by 2001. The revised edition makes significant modifications and additions based on the first edition, featuring three main characteristics:
1. It retains the first edition's style of "theory linked to practice and emphasizing practicality," with typical examples and detailed analysis, striving to reveal the essence of news writing through case studies. Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter, facilitating both teaching and self-study.
2. It more fully reflects the new developments in China's news writing over the past two decades. The reform and opening-up have created an unprecedentedly flourishing landscape for China's news dissemination, with new concepts, forms, and styles sprouting up like mushrooms after rain, competing for innovation. To reflect these changes, we have incorporated related discussions into relevant chapters and provided a macro-level description in Chapter 16.
3. To a certain extent, this textbook can also be considered a "methodology of news writing," systematically summarizing and introducing both the fundamental requirements and methods of news writing, as well as the specific requirements and methods for different genres. Although "writing has no fixed rules," innovation is key, the successful experiences and methods of others can still provide valuable inspiration and reference.
