Being a person is a profound and vast art; how to be a person, what kind of person to be, becomes the lifelong pursuit of every individual. This book draws from the essence of ancient sages to explain the principles of being a person: one must strive for self-improvement, cultivate virtue to nurture all, master interpersonal relationships, develop a positive mindset, often self-reflect, be cautious in speech, uphold integrity, and maintain one’s unique character in life. These principles of being a person are not dry teachings but are vividly conveyed through small stories.
If you place a lamp in a completely dark room, the darkness will instantly disappear, and the room will be filled with light. At this moment, if you add more lamps—ten, a hundred, or a thousand—the room will only grow brighter. May the philosophical stories in this book become the lamp that illuminates your life. Under its light, we can transform sorrow into the intoxicating wine of joy, turn the darkness of midnight into the dawn of hope, and make the journey of life lighter, happier, and more optimistic.
