Features: The term mental disorder is broad, encompassing a range of clinically identifiable psychological abnormalities and behavioral anomalies of varying severity. These symptoms generally cause distress to individuals and impair their primary functions, affecting their ability to care for themselves, communicate and interact with others, work and study, manage household responsibilities, and adhere to social norms. Mental disorders differ from general medical illnesses, with diagnosis primarily based on symptom clusters and disease patterns for identification. Some common mental disorders lack a organic pathological basis, and their specific causes remain unknown. While organic mental disorders do have an organic foundation, they are essentially symptoms of corresponding organic diseases. Therefore, the term "disorder" is used to encompass them.
