Features: Borges was an Argentine writer who never visited China, only seeing the Great Wall in his books, which stretched across northern China. Yet the shadow of the Great Wall extended into the heart of this great figure. – Excerpted from Details of Europe
I gazed up again at the Potala Palace, towering high on the Red Mountain, its complex of terraced palaces, majestic and enigmatic, appearing before me. The tens of thousands of windows, each adorned with black borders, seemed like the eyes of deities, demons, and cosmic spirits, full of temptation. I clearly felt that the Potala Palace symbolized the faith, will, and perseverance of the Tibetan monks and people. – Excerpted from Gazing at the Potala Palace
This is a series of reading-and-writing-promoting books. In terms of content and structure, we have made the following arrangements: Categorized by content, it includes the Self section I Am a Sunflower, Nature section The Sound of Green, Society section Looking at Life Serenely, and History section Gazing at the Potala Palace. Each section collects famous essays and contemporary writings, accompanied by necessary background knowledge and our insights. Student writings are accompanied by comments or critiques from teachers and university students. These reading journals spark not only intellectual insights and creative inspiration but also praise for writing techniques and guidance on skills. Some chapters also provide an "Try Your Hand at Writing" platform for exchange, where students can compete with each other. We hope that students who love reading and are to practice writing will enjoy this series, and even more, that it will help them hone their keen eyes and divine pens.
