Features: The decorative themes of Qing Dynasty porcelain with text are extremely diverse, including poetry, couplets, folk proverbs, auspicious phrases, and more, with even Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Arabic scripts. The Chinese calligraphy styles range from regular script to running script, and from clerical script to seal script; while the foreign scripts are either meticulously written or casually composed. The era-specific styles of porcelain decorated with text are distinct. For instance, in the early Ming Dynasty, single-character auspicious phrases were predominant; during the Yongle and Xuanzong periods, Sanskrit gradually increased; in the mid-Ming Dynasty, Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Persian scripts occupied significant areas of the wares; in the late Ming Dynasty, single-character auspicious phrases flourished again, along with the emergence of antique patterns, and long poems were introduced by Kangxi, while antique patterns were rustic and playful, Yongzheng combined text and images, and the reigns of Qianlong and Jiaqing saw the continued popularity of imperial literary works, with antique patterns often carrying a sense of stone and metal craftsmanship. Although the Qing middle and late periods inherited the styles of previous dynasties, the painting was not as refined. This book includes over 500 Ming and Qing Dynasty wares decorated with antique patterns and text, categorized into six sections based on content and presentation: Antique Patterns, Sanskrit, Auspicious Phrases, Poems, Single-Character Phrases, and more. When introducing the origins of each decorative style, the book provides detailed explanations of the decorative styles across different dynasties and evaluates the writing characteristics of the text, enabling readers to comprehensively grasp the knowledge related to text and antique patterns, thereby improving their overall ability to appraise porcelain.
