Features: The history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is a national key discipline. As the only CPC History Department in universities across the country, it has been designated as a key discipline construction base for CPC History in both of the two national key discipline evaluations to date. By the end of 2002, the Ministry of Education approved the "Project 211" initiative at Renmin University of China, where the CPC History Department was responsible for two sub-projects under the research project "Contemporary Socialism and Theory and Practice" within the School of Marxism—"Research on CPC History" and "Research on the CPC's Governing Experience." The overall guiding principle of the "CPC History Research Series" is to adhere to the basic principles of historical materialism and conduct objective and realistic exploration, expanding and deepening research on important theories, major events, and key figures in CPC history. The series' batch of achievements mainly involve research on the CPC's theory and policies regarding intellectuals, the history of CPC doctrine, the multi-party cooperation system led by the CPC, and the distribution system of rural people's communes. The authors of each book have spent many years in their respective research fields, possessing a solid research foundation and certain preliminary achievements. Some of the research topics themselves are national social science fund projects.
