Shenzhen Lovers

Features: Around Liu Xuting are characters deeply constrained by materialism, including her classmates, colleagues, and boyfriend. In reality, each person is driven by profound loss, and they all feel the desolation sweeping in and the hunger of their souls. Yet, they only endure, dream, or numb themselves through decadence. They dare not wake up, nor can they; that would mean confronting their emptiness, their paleness, and their meaningless lives. Liu Xuting meets Fan Zhixun, a carefree and wealthy man from Beijing—who is, in fact, just another empty figure in a bustling metropolis. She believes she has found love and, even after realizing it's a foolish transaction, desperately clings to that illusory love. In truth, she is more like a martyr when it comes to love. Thus, the vast stomach of Shenzhen is vividly depicted—appearing full, yet filled with coldness, desolation, and the void left after desires are digested.
