Features: This book is a comprehensive monograph on the study of Shanghan Lun, with a total of 16 volumes and over 500,000 words. The author, Qiang Jian, was a renowned physician in Shanghai during the early Qing Dynasty. The author considers Shanghan Lun to be the "ancestor of formulating laws and prescriptions in traditional Chinese medicine," but due to the original text being lost, Wang Shuxue's compilation being disordered, and the text containing numerous omissions, errors, and inaccuracies, the author meticulously selected the research and discussions of physicians after Cheng Wuyi to interpret Shanghan Lun chapter by chapter and sentence by sentence, aiming to "investigate its roots and directly point out right and wrong." Where doubts arose, the author made corrections and improvements, "following the unfinished intentions of the predecessors." The first seven volumes of the book contain the original text of Shanghan Lun along with discussions and annotations by various scholars, as well as the author's clarifications. The eighth volume analyzes the original prescriptions of Shanghan Lun, while the ninth to sixteenth volumes, based on Shanghan Zhéchong, compile discussions on four diagnostic methods from the Neijing and various scholars, along with the prescriptions and theories of different schools. A preface includes the author's general introduction, outlining the rules and principles for diagnosing and prescribing in Shanghan Lun. After the book was completed, it remained unpublished for over 240 years. It is now published based on the original manuscript, with missing parts supplemented and corrected by referencing other texts. This book is grand in scale, comprehensive in compilation, well-organized in sequence, and detailed in analysis, making it of significant academic reference value and guiding significance for modern scholars studying Shanghan Lun.
