Features: Since 1996, when I first came into contact with AIDS patients, I have traveled through more than ten counties, dozens of townships, and hundreds of villages, investigating thousands of HIV-infected individuals and patients, and received over 10,000 letters. Almost everything I have seen and heard has been "bloodshed!" It is truly shocking. Focusing solely on sexual transmission of AIDS has led the public to equate AIDS with sexual promiscuity for a long time. This is a great misguidance and is not conducive to the current prevention efforts against AIDS. The number of HIV-infected individuals and AIDS patients in China is continuously rising and has begun to spread from high-risk groups to the general population. Only by promoting accurate knowledge about AIDS prevention in a realistic manner, and by intensifying, broadening, and deepening prevention efforts, can we curb the severe situation of AIDS spreading in China.
