Features: "Tang Muhai—I Dedicate My Life to Music," from gathering materials to compiling the manuscript, it took over 20 years,ly. For me, it was an enormous project, relying on perseverance and resilience to complete it. Since 90% of Muhai's materials are in foreign languages, there are very few in Chinese. Many friends understand my dedication and helped me collect Chinese music reviews, reports, and introductions. Some overseas Chinese friends were particularly kind, bringing several pages of Chinese-language newspapers and magazines for me when they returned to China for visits. Only after accumulating enough did I begin writing. Tang Muhai belongs to a lucky generation, able to pass national exams and compete for opportunities to study abroad. He also encountered a mentor, the legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan, who guided him onto the international conducting stage. His current achievements are hard-earned. Many materials from the 1980s come from journalists and media, carrying historical imprints. The recorded interviews of Muhai with the media reflect his sincere and factual accounts, also bearing historical imprints. Therefore, I made no changes to them to preserve their historical and documentary nature. A person's life is always evaluated through both subjective and objective perspectives, which makes it true and valuable for future generations. Due to Muhai's busy schedule, he was always in a rush, so not only did he not see the Chinese materials I collected, but he also didn’t review what I wrote. Thus, if there are any errors, I take full responsibility. However, with so many friends at home and abroad guiding me, I believe I won’t make mistakes. Moreover, everything is based on facts, well-documented. To say it again, I am confident—I won’t make mistakes.
