Features: This collection is adapted from the simple piano suite based on the ballet music Swan Lake by Russian composer Tchaikovsky. In the summer of 1874, Tchaikovsky spent his vacation at his relatives' home and composed the dance drama music, intended as a birthday gift for his niece. His Swan Lake music was influenced by the French composer Léo Delibes. The plot summary is as follows: A prince meets a swan by the lake, who tells him about how a sorcerer transformed her from a girl into a swan. She reveals that only unwavering love can restore her to human form. Deeply moved, the prince swears to love her forever. A grand ball is held in the palace to select a bride for the prince, where the sorcerer and his daughter, a black swan who resembles the white swan Odette, attend. The prince mistakes the black swan for Odette and declares his love. Upon realizing he has been deceived, the prince immediately rushes to the lake to find Odette. The prince defeats the sorcerer, restores the white swan to her human form, and the lovers finally come together.
