Features: "Luo Lan's Whispers" are writings that the author gradually composed during his work in broadcasting and the creation of other works. They reflect his personal insights and experiences regarding various social phenomena and the joys and sorrows of life. These "whispers" trace a journey from an extremely simple, pure, and bright agricultural society to the bustling, skyscraper-filled era of today. "Luo Lan's Whispers" are the scripts written during the author's one-hour radio programs each evening from the 1960s to the turn of the century, capturing his daily reflections and thoughts on life. The sixth collection, "Hold on to Your Spring," reflects Luo Lan's relatively light and swift observations and feelings as he walked alongside this era. It spanned over twenty years of writing and is highly lifelike, with diverse themes due to its impromptu nature. Reading it feels effortless.
Hold on to Your Spring – Excerpt from the Preface
The spring of the south lies hidden in the gentle rain.
The spring of the north lies hidden in the desert winds and sand.
The spring of life lies hidden in the pressures of internal and external struggles.
When you find yourself unable to break through the confines of your environment, unable to resolve emotional troubles, or unable to see a future obscured by sandstorms, amidst all the frustrations, anxieties, and grievances, you may not realize that it is the spring of life.
Each of us is a "spring" within eternity—a segment of life filled with emotions and the ability to see beauty. This "spring," which reaches as high as the heavens and can last a lifetime, the "blooming once in a lifetime" bestowed upon humanity and all creatures by fate, is not easily attained, nor should it be easily abandoned. We must not forget the blessings, nor fail to cherish them.
