The original text was written on bamboo slips, hence the name "Zhushu," and it is commonly referred to as "Zhushu Jiyian." The book consists of thirteen chapters, narrating the history of the Xia, Shang, Western Zhou, Spring and Autumn, and Warring States periods, arranged in chronological order. In many places, it differs from traditional records and is closer to the truth of history. Additionally, some parts align with the records of oracle bone script and bronze inscriptions. This book provides annotations and translations for both the ancient and modern versions of "Zhushu Jiyian," using "Collected and ed Records of the Bamboo Books" () and "Commentary and Verification of the Modern Records of the Bamboo Books" () from "Kwang Wangwei's Posthumous Works" as the base texts. "Zhushu Jiyian" is one of the historical texts unearthed from underground in China, and its invaluable historical significance is self-evident. Since the Qing Dynasty, many scholars have used this book as a clue to achieve breakthroughs in the study of ancient history.
