Features: Fully annotated and translated version of Zhongzi Zhongyue. The book was written by Wang Tong. Wang Tong took it upon himself to promote the "Way of the King" and hoped to revive the teachings of the ancient Confucian scholars, reviving the great cause of Confucius. In his writings, he proposed many valuable ideas and proposals, advocating the restoration of the "Way of the King" and "benevolent governance." According to the characteristics of the series, this book uses Sun Xingyan's collated edition as the base text of The Twenty-Two Masters, while referencing the Sun Tzu's Art of War unearthed from the Yinque Mountain Han Tomb, the Eleven Commentators' Annotations on Sun Tzu (Zhonghua Book Company, 1961), and the Wujing Qi Shu Sun Tzu's Art of War from the Continuation of the Ancient Manuscript Series. The annotations are designed to be clear. Where there is still debate in academia, a "Note" is provided for reference. Sometimes, ancient annotations are cited for their simplicity and ease of understanding to clarify the original text. Annotations by figures like Cao Cao and the other ten are referred to as "Cao Cao's Annotation," etc., while Du You's views are distinguished as "Du You said." The translation strives to reflect the original meaning. Parts enclosed in brackets indicate additions. Placing the ideas of Sun Tzu in the broader social context of the time allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the book. Therefore, the Preface is written in greater detail about the background of the emergence of Sun Tzu's ideas, and the Appendix includes Sun Wu's biography, a famous battle example, and related documents for reference.
