Features: Due to the selfless contribution of nature, humanity has been able to survive in this colorful world. From the changing seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter to the daily dawn and dusk, people have indulged in and experienced various color transformations. Our understanding of the beauty of the world begins with color. Color not only symbolizes natural signs but also represents the vitality of life. An unimaginable world without color. Modern artists have drawn sufficient inspiration from the world of color to embark on their unique artistic journeys. The study of color in modern design is rapidly developing alongside the evolution of design concepts. As a crucial component of modern design, the role of color in design is evident. When we are captivated by the stunning color expression in design works, we can’t help but admire the ingenuity of the designers. The color choices in design works often carry a strong sense of the era. The changes in the times are often influenced by the comprehensive development of politics, economy, culture, and art. In the field of design, the era-specific characteristics of various design disciplines can usually be found in the colors of design works and the products they produce. For example, the release of fashion color trends predicts changes and popularity in clothing styles and culture; in environmental art design, there are also mainstream trends in popular colors and decoration styles; and in industrial product design, color changes emphasize the distinctiveness of the era. If we pay close attention and observe the color changes in design works, we will notice many interesting phenomena. People continuously change their clothing colors—loving red and black one year, white and brown the next; home colors also change every year; interior design styles shift between grandeur and elegance, reflecting people’s active response to progress and change in the times, as well as their strong pursuit of a better life. In home appliances, the so-called "black appliances" in the past referred to televisions, while "white appliances" included refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines. However, in modern product design, to better cater to people’s diverse aesthetic preferences and needs, the color design of home appliances has become extremely rich and varied. In addition to black and white, we now see home appliances in shades of gray, blue, green, and purple, greatly enriching people’s lives. A China without design is already history, and a China without color is also in the past. Although modern design in China is young, it is full of vitality. The study and education of design color, though relatively late to start, hold great promise. Based on the color application and research findings of numerous designers and experts at home and abroad, we have further expanded and explored, analyzing the relevant characteristics and styles of design color from different perspectives, making the research more comprehensive, artistic, and academic. The "Modern Design Color Textbook Series" is about to be launched to a wide readership, with the support of many colleagues. We feel both gratified and regretful. Grateful that after two years of hard work, the series has finally been completed and published. Regretful that there are still many shortcomings and omissions in this book, and we hope for the readers’ criticism and guidance. The illustrations included in this book consist of works by students in teaching as well as outstanding works by designers from home and abroad, showcasing a wide variety of styles with high learning and appreciation value.
