Features: This book was originally one of the series textbooks for aesthetic education (or art education) in ordinary higher education institutions. The series includes four books: "University Aesthetic Education," "Music Appreciation," "Film and Television Appreciation," and "Art Appreciation." It was recommended as a national key textbook for the "Nineties" by the Ministry of Education's Department of Physical Education, Hygiene, and Art Education. Vice Premier Li Lanqing wrote a preface for the series in his busy schedule. Now, the series textbooks have been incorporated into the "University Cultural Quality Education Series" organized by the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Department. The book is divided into 15 chapters. The first five chapters are the introduction and general theory, clarifying the purpose of the book and elaborating on relevant theoretical issues and the knowledge required for appreciating art. The last ten chapters are the specific theory, discussing the artistic characteristics and social functions of various art forms, including painting (including traditional Chinese painting, Western painting, propaganda posters, New Year pictures, serial illustrations, prints, illustrations, cartoons, etc.), sculpture, architecture and landscape art, industrial design, Chinese character art, photography, and folk art, and providing historical analysis of famous works and introductions to renowned artists. The features of the book: 1) Strong theoretical foundation, easy to understand, suitable for non-art major university students; 2) Broad knowledge scope, providing a comprehensive introduction to various forms of art; 3) Emotionally engaging, aimed at improving university students' cultural quality; 4) Positive and uplifting, expanding knowledge structures. The chapter arrangement of the book is independent, allowing for flexible selection based on different teaching needs. The book can be arranged for 64 teaching hours. It can be used as a textbook for cultural quality education in ordinary universities, especially for aesthetic and art education, or as self-study reading material for young people to improve their aesthetic level and artistic understanding.
