Editor's Recommendation: Published in 1988, Standard Japanese for Chinese Learners (Beginner I & II) is a Japanese self-study textbook jointly developed and meticulously written by People's Education Press and Kokon Publishing Co., Ltd. of Japan. Written by renowned scholars in the fields of Japanese studies, Sinology, and Japanese education, it fully considers the needs of Chinese learners of Japanese, emphasizing both building a solid foundation and practicality. In 2005, People's Education Press organized experts from China and Japan to revise Standard Japanese for Chinese Learners (Beginner I & II) extensively and republished it. Compared to the previous edition, adjustments were made in content and scenarios. To enhance readers' ability to use Japanese to introduce Chinese society and cultural background when communicating with Japanese people, the scenarios in the beginner I volume were set in Japan, while the beginner II volume was moved to China, making the topics more diverse and the content richer. The difficulty level of the beginner I and II volumes is equivalent to Level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) organized by the Japan Foundation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
