Features: This book's author did not write it as an encyclopedia of oil painting sketching techniques or as a comprehensive beginner's guide. The author envisioned the potential readers as dedicated learners who have been studying painting for years but struggle with certain issues, or as students studying oil painting at art academies. Although this book is not aimed at beginners, it must be strongly emphasized that the author believes the foundation of painting is crucial, and early artistic education is vital. What is initially encountered is often firmly remembered, so finding a good teacher and identifying a correct learning method is essential. When evaluating a student's foundational academic performance, the author believes it should be divided into two parts: visible and invisible. The visible part includes the artwork produced and the scores given by the teacher. However, what is more important are the invisible aspects that cannot be immediately seen in the work but have inspired the student's thinking, deepened their inner understanding, and will gradually reveal themselves over the years. Here, the author shares their experience from years of teaching at the third studio of the Oil Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, addressing common issues in oil painting sketching instruction and other challenges, offering their perspectives and sharing knowledge, experience, and insights from oil painting sketching with the readers.
