After the Civil War ends, Scarlett manages various affairs and runs Tara, achieving financial independence. Later, she marries Frank Kennedy and runs a logging business together. She even forces Ashley to become the manager of one of her logging companies. Frank dies in an accident, and at the age of 27, Scarlett marries Rhett Butler, who has become wealthy through arms trading. However, she remains obsessed with Ashley, destroying the love between them. Rhett leaves her. It is only after Melanie dies and Ashley rejects her sympathy that Scarlett realizes that Rhett, who shares her personality, is the man she truly loves.
