Features: Yang-style Tai Chi is one of the traditional forms of Tai Chi, developed and created by Yang Luchan (1799-1873) of Yongnian, Hebei, and his son Yang Jianhou (1839-1917), as well as his grandson Yang Chengfu (1883-1936), based on the Chen-style old frame. Yang-style Tai Chi forms are characterized by being expansive, concise, upright in posture, harmonious in movement, light yet grounded, and combine relaxation with suppleness, firmness with gentleness, simplicity with practicality. Its practice progresses from relaxation to suppleness, balances strength and softness, is straightforward yet profound, and is deeply loved by the general public, making it widely practiced. Yang-style Tai Chi forms are categorized into high, medium, and low, allowing adjustments in intensity based on age and physical condition. Thus, it is suitable for both physically fit individuals to improve their health and weaker individuals for therapeutic and health maintenance purposes.
This book was meticulously compiled by Fu Zhongwen, former Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Martial Arts Association, one of China's Hundred Outstanding Martial Artists, and an inheritor of Yang-style Tai Chi, along with his son Fu Shengyuan (8th Dan in National Martial Arts) and grandson Fu Qingquan (6th Dan in National Martial Arts), based on years of teaching experience. The book includes numerous new additions to the key points of movements, such as incorporating biased techniques in application. It offers detailed and innovative discussions on teaching and training methods, such as progressive incrementation, mnemonic phrases, and error correction techniques, all of which have been tested and proven highly effective in practice.
