Features: It is hoped that the Fundamentals of University Calligraphy can contribute our modest efforts to the inheritance and development of calligraphy art, especially to enhancing the writing skills and proficiency of college students. During the writing process, all colleagues strived to make this tutorial embody the following four characteristics: extensive, concise, innovative, and practical.
The term "extensive" refers to a broad scope of knowledge. As an introductory textbook for calligraphy, we aimed to provide a comprehensive and systematic introduction to both the apparent and essential aspects of calligraphy. The term "concise" refers to careful selection, where we strove to choose the most representative materials among similar resources. The term "innovative" refers to building upon traditional foundations while incorporating the latest research findings in academia, proposing numerous new perspectives to reflect the academic forefront of the textbook. The term "practical" refers to avoiding empty theoretical discussions and instead focusing on the characteristics of college calligraphy courses, aiming for strong operability, ease of mastery, and making it accessible for general calligraphy enthusiasts to self-study and improve.
Of course, these are merely our initial intentions. Whether we have achieved our goals remains to be tested by practice.
