Modern Last Complex: A Legal Economic Analysis of Farmers' Interests

Author: Zhang Yuejin

Publish Date: 2005-03-01
Features: This book focuses on the interests of farmers, employing the microeconomic principles of modern economics to conduct a systematic legal economic (legal and economic) analysis of the status, role, and future destiny of farmers in the modern evolutionary process of China's farming households. It proposes the proposition that "farmer interests are the key to solving farmer issues," with its core being the identification of effective methods and pathways for the broad farming population to share in the fruits of economic growth and gradually transition away from farming. This book represents the author's insights into China's agricultural economy, incorporating some chapters from the author's doctoral dissertation and content from several publicly published papers. In terms of writing, it avoids the constraints of academic theses, allowing for a more direct and candid expression of ideas. Although the views presented in the book may have biases and omissions, the author takes pride in the fact that it combines an objective description and scientific analysis of China's farmer issues. Scientific research cannot entirely avoid errors, but its value and strength lie precisely in its commitment to facts. The long-standing prevalence of self-serving rhetoric, insincerity, euphemisms for the powerful, and ambiguous language in the Chinese social sciences community, which often requires guesswork to discern its true meaning, not only reflects vulgar commercialism but also contributes to policy failures and resulting social losses at all levels of government. This is particularly evident in the treatment of farmers.
