Author: Lin Zhaogeng, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publish Date: 1996-05-01
Features: The content of this book is divided into twelve volumes. Volume I briefly records the origin of acupuncture meridians and the theoretical discussions, serving as the foundation for acupuncture theory. Volumes II and III are collections of songs and rhymes. Among all ancient acupuncture texts, the songs and rhymes compiled in The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion can be considered completely comprehensive. Volume IV focuses on acupuncture techniques, introducing various acupuncture methods and techniques for reinforcing and reducing. Volume V covers the Zi-Wu Liu-Note (Twelve-Two Meridian Cycle), and nearly all modern explanations of the Zi-Wu Liu-Note fall within the scope of this volume. Volumes VI and VII discuss meridians, acupoints, Zang-Fu organs, Yin-Yang theory, and the Five Elements in relation to acupuncture meridians. Volume VIII is dedicated to acupuncture treatment, describing acupoint selection methods and acupuncture techniques for various diseases. Volume IX first records the essentials of treating symptoms, followed by an introduction to Dongguan's acupuncture methods, treatments from famous acupuncturists throughout history, and various moxibustion techniques from different schools. Volume X is on pediatric massage, which is essentially an appendix to The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. Volumes XI and XII are two additional volumes added by the author. Volume XI explains and discusses the inconsistencies in the original The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, published 391 years ago, with modern medical theory, and points out passages that require further research. Volume XII supplements and organizes the missing materials in The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, as well as an overview of modern research on the mechanisms of acupuncture. The great feature of this book is that it is the only version of The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion to incorporate modern medical theory, hence the name The New Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.
