Moby Dick is Melville's masterpiece, depicting the tragic scene of a small boat facing off against a giant whale. Ishmael accidentally meets the savage Queequeg and the two join the whaling ship Pequod. Captain Ahab has one leg bitten off by a whale named Moby Dick and has been seeking revenge. He promises the sailors that whoever first spots the white whale will be rewarded with a gold coin. Pequod sets sail to find Moby Dick, traveling from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, and finally reaches the Pacific. One day, the sailors discover the huge, malevolent Moby Dick and engage in a fierce three-day, three-night battle. Enraged, Moby Dick finally rammed Pequod with his head, sinking the broken ship into the depths. The small boat thrown into the sea also broke into pieces of wood and debris, leaving only the one Ishmael was in. He threw a harpoon at Moby Dick with all his might, but unfortunately, his neck was entangled by the rapidly sliding rope, causing him to fall into the sea and drown. Only Ishmael survived on the ship, and he was eventually rescued by another ship while drifting at sea. The epic battle between humans and whales on the vast ocean is stirring and moving, the diverse personalities of the sailors allow us to appreciate the richness of the world, and at the same time, it prompts us to think more deeply about life, helping us to feel the courage, wisdom, and strength of humanity.
