Using a combination of text and illustrations, the book provides an in-depth exploration of acupoints from a clinical perspective, meeting the needs of acupuncture and moxibustion teaching and clinical practice while filling the gap in this field. – Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Moxibustion College
The book is divided into four chapters, arranged according to the anatomical locations of extra-meridian acupoints. Chapter 1 covers extra-meridian acupoints of the head, face, and neck; Chapter 2 covers extra-meridian acupoints of the trunk; Chapter 3 covers extra-meridian acupoints of the limbs; and Chapter 4 covers combined acupoints. For the thousands of acupoints recorded over the centuries, especially those discovered in the 1960s and 1970s, the book strictly selects those that are clinically practical. It compiles acupoints that are relatively fixed in location, have proven efficacy, and are widely recognized by physicians after years of use, resulting in a total of over 600 clinically common and highly effective extra-meridian acupoints. Each acupoint is elaborated on from multiple aspects, including description, location, anatomical references, indications, acupuncture and moxibustion techniques, sources and references, and their relationship to nearby meridian points or extra-meridian acupoints. The content is detailed and rich. All acupoints are accompanied by color photographs for reference, with clear surface landmarks and accurate point markings. Additionally, line drawings of muscles, blood vessels, tendons, and bones are provided to describe the precise locations of the acupoints in detail, making them easy to understand and aesthetically practical. This book serves as a summary and standardization of extra-meridian acupoints. It is a valuable reference for students and faculty of TCM colleges, clinical doctors, researchers, and foreign students studying acupuncture and moxibustion.
