Features: The core of stock market investment is "stock selection." World-class investment masters like Warren Buffett have achieved success that cannot be separated from accurate stock selection. Their ability to choose stocks is sharp. Accurate stock selection helps them achieve returns that exceed the market and helps them avoid market risks. China's stock market has experienced over a decade of development, evolving from a small-scale market with only a few stocks to a large securities market with over 1,000 listed companies. The number of listed companies has undergone a dramatic change, making stock selection increasingly important. In the early stages of the stock market, the investment philosophy of "stock selection is less important than timing" was popular. During that time, there were only around 100 listed companies, and market performance was often synchronized—either all stocks rose or fell together, so the quality of stock selection was not a major issue. Therefore, in the early days of the stock market, this emphasis on timing the entry into the market had its place. However, as the stock market has rapidly evolved, the foundation for this philosophy has collapsed. After years of rapid expansion, China's stock market has gradually matured, with the growth in market capacity far outpacing the supply of funds, leading to a clear divergence in stock price trends. Some hot sector stocks, under the focus of incremental capital, can even double in price even during a bear market with a near-1,000-point decline in the index. Most individual stocks, however, have lagged behind the market's gains, while a small portion of stocks, long neglected by mainstream capital, have struggled to break out of low-price ranges, making it difficult to form strong bullish trends. This market condition is an inevitable trend in the maturation of the stock market. Bull markets in many mature stock markets around the world are often localized. For example, while the Dow Jones index in the U.S. has risen by thousands of points, only a small number of its components have performed well, with most individual stocks remaining stagnant. As China's stock market matures, the traditional bull market where "everyone profits" will inevitably evolve into a localized bull market with hot sectors rising. Therefore, the importance of stock selection has changed dramatically. If you cannot select stocks accurately, even in a bull market, you may end up with nothing; if you can select stocks accurately, even in a bear market, you can still make substantial profits. In bull markets, many investors feel they "increased the index but didn't make money." The fundamental reason is that investors have failed to accurately select mainstream hot sectors that align with the current market trend, so while the index advances rapidly, their stocks stagnate. For example, the Shenzhen Securities Information Company statistics show that, taking the lowest point in early January 2003 as a reference and the high point in mid-April as a calculation, the Shanghai Composite Index rose by 26%, and the Shenzhen Component Index rose by 32%. However, during this period, 208 individual stocks not only failed to rise significantly but also set new lows. Meanwhile, 381 stocks in Shenzhen and 513 in Shanghai had gains lower than the market. During the same period, 108 stocks in Shenzhen and 190 in Shanghai in hot sectors favored by mainstream capital had gains exceeding the market's rise. From this statistics, it can be seen why only a few people profit in the stock market, while most either break even or lose money—the reason is that only a few investors can truly select stocks accurately. The focus of this book is to explain various techniques for accurately selecting stocks in the stock market. The stock selection techniques in this book can be roughly divided into: series of trend-based stock selection, series of theme-based stock selection, series of financial analysis-based stock selection, series of sector-based stock selection, series of indicator-based stock selection, series of volume-based stock selection, series of pattern-based stock selection, series of unconventional stock selection, and series of comprehensive stock selection. A truly effective and successful stock selection technique must comprehensively consider multiple factors of the market, including capital flow, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, news, and policy. Relying on a single analytical method often leads to "listening to one side and being blind," affecting practical application value. Most stock selection techniques in this book use a comprehensive research method, analyzing from multiple angles, comprehensively, and in three dimensions to select the best investment targets from the stock market. Although the stock selection techniques in this book are categorized, investors should not limit themselves to using a specific "technique" in practice. Instead, they should adopt a comprehensive analysis approach, combining different stock selection techniques to improve accuracy based on the market environment. The stock market is constantly evolving, and investors must also learn about stock market investment with a developmental perspective. When learning specific stock selection techniques, it is essential to fully understand and apply them, drawing broader conclusions from specific examples. Through continuous practice, investors can refine techniques that are most suitable for themselves and the market, establishing an independent, complete, and effective investment and stock selection system.
