Features: Language acquisition and teaching can be categorized from different perspectives: From the perspective of linguistic elements, they can be divided into phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, discourse, etc.; From the perspective of communicative skills, they can be divided into listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Chinese as a second language shares similarities and differences with general second languages. The most significant difference lies in the writing system of Chinese, which differs from the writing systems of the vast majority of world languages. This characteristic closely related to acquisition and teaching is different from that of general second languages. The most affected areas are Chinese characters in terms of linguistic elements and reading and writing in terms of communicative skills. Due to the rapid development of computer technology and the widespread adoption of home computers, pinyin input has largely solved the difficulties of writing Chinese characters, making Chinese reading one of the major challenges in the acquisition and teaching of Chinese as a second language. This collection includes seven articles that study reading learning from different perspectives, mostly employing psychological methods commonly used in previous language experimental research to better reveal the cognitive processes and psychological characteristics of non-native speakers when reading Chinese, providing further insights into reading Chinese as a second language. Reading is a very important component of language learning, and how to promote its development is a widely discussed issue in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language. This book is the proceedings of the nd National Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Reading.
