Features: The author of this book, Winston Churchill (1874-1965), was a British writer and politician. He served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940-1945 and 1951-1955. He began his political career in 1900 by entering Parliament. From 1906 onwards, he held various ministerial positions, including Colonies, Trade, Home, Navy, Air, Finance, Munitions, and Army. He played a significant role in the victories of both World War I and World War II and holds an important place in world history, enjoying great acclaim in the Western world. In 2002, a British public opinion poll ranked Churchill as the greatest British figure, surpassing the great playwright Shakespeare and the British admiral Nelson, who secured the nation's naval supremacy. As a representative of the bourgeoisie, Churchill, driven by the ideals of his class, detested the Russian Revolution, viewed the workers' and peasants' revolution as "disturbances," and considered the Soviet government a "tyranny." After World War I, he actively supported the White Russian forces and worked to orchestrate Allied military intervention in the Soviet Union, though this effort ultimately failed due to the Allies' lack of unity. However, before World War II, Churchill, motivated by his country's interests, actively proposed the policy of aligning with the Soviet Union to contain Germany. When Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, he immediately declared support for the Soviet resistance against Germany. Yet, just a few years after World War II ended in 1946, Churchill once again advocated for a Western alliance against the Soviet Union, marking the opening of the "Cold War" era. In addition to this book, the author's other works include The Second World War, a six-volume memoir.
