Features: Supply chain and supply chain management have been and are changing the position of every enterprise in the global economic landscape. Practice has proven that the successful application of supply chain and supply chain management has become a key factor in determining whether an enterprise possesses a competitive advantage. In recent years, I have been engaged in research on supply chain and enterprise competitiveness, especially during my doctoral studies at Renmin University of China and the subsequent year-and-a-half as a postdoctoral researcher at Peking University. Based on in-depth investigative research and extensive literature review, I constructed a theoretical model titled "Enhancing Enterprise Core Competitiveness Based on Supply Chain Management" and conducted hypothesis testing on this model using empirical research methods (see my doctoral dissertation "Research on Enterprise Core Competitiveness Based on Supply Chain Management"). This theoretical model proposes an important viewpoint: supply chain management is a system that includes internal supply chain management, external supply chain management, and the integration of internal and external supply chains, which I refer to as the "Three-Pillar Structure of Supply Chain Management." The premise for successfully applying supply chain and supply chain management is a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the supply chain management system, as well as the study of the experiences of the best practitioners in supply chain management both domestically and internationally. The prerequisite for accurately grasping the supply chain management system is scientific and systematic theoretical and empirical research. This book unfolds the content of each chapter following this line of thought. The "scientific and systematic theoretical and empirical research on supply chain management and core competitiveness" is the core content of this book and also the foundation for the research in other chapters. The specific content is detailed in Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4; "a comprehensive and accurate grasp of the supply chain management system" is achieved through the conclusion: "Supply Chain Competitiveness—the Three-Pillar Structure of Supply Chain Management" in Chapter 4, as well as the content of Chapter 5 "Internal Supply Chain Management as One Subsystem of Supply Chain Management," Chapter 6 "Integration of Internal and External Supply Chains as Another Subsystem of Supply Chain Management," and Chapter 7 "External Supply Chain Management as the Third Subsystem of Supply Chain Management"; "learning from the experiences of the best domestic and international supply chain management practitioners" is accomplished through the cases in all chapters; additionally, this book proposes the concept of "survival environment—the extended supply chain" in response to the changes in the business environment of enterprises after China's entry into the WTO, and reveals the "problem tree of supply chain management in Chinese enterprises," which is covered in Chapter 8 "Challenges Facing Chinese Enterprises"; at the same time, it also elaborates on the opportunities for Chinese enterprises from the perspective of supply chain and supply chain management, which is detailed in Chapter 9 "Opportunities for Chinese Enterprises." In China, the systematic dissemination of ideas and methods related to supply chain and supply chain management is still in its early stages. This book attempts to present a supply chain management model constructed from a completely new perspective to you through scientific and systematic theoretical and empirical research, using as many rich and detailed domestic and international supply chain management cases as possible. It sincerely hopes that readers will apply the "supply chain management system" advocated in this book to enhance the core competitiveness and competitiveness of enterprises in China, enabling Chinese enterprises to learn to use the concepts and methods of supply chain and supply chain management to gain and strengthen their competitive advantages in the changing global economic landscape. It is certain that there is still much work to be done in this regard, and this is also one of the goals I will continue to strive for! This book is another significant work by the author following her doctoral dissertation "Research on Enterprise Core Competitiveness Based on Supply Chain Management." It applies the research findings from the doctoral dissertation to the practice of supply chain management, especially the practice of supply chain management in Chinese enterprises. Building on the theoretical model "Enhancing Enterprise Core Competitiveness Based on Supply Chain Management," it proposes the highly innovative and guiding "Three-Pillar Structure of Supply Chain Management," which is both instructive and methodological. The author argues that a complete supply chain management should be a system that includes internal supply chain management, external supply chain management, and the integration of internal and external supply chains. In terms of supply chain management, local optimization is a crucial prerequisite for achieving overall efficient operation, and the current widespread and urgent need to address the issue of supply chain management limited to local scope is a common challenge in enterprises' efforts to enhance their competitiveness. In the supply chain management environment, understanding the supply chain management system and flexibly applying it to corporate management practices is the key to enhancing competitiveness in the new era.
