Features: Quan Zenggu (1903-1984), a renowned historian of foreign philosophy. He graduated from Tsinghua School in 1923 and obtained a master's degree in philosophy from Harvard University in 1927, completing the entire doctoral program. During the War of Resistance, he served as the editor of the English weekly China Review, the editor-in-chief of Lunyu, and the editor of the English Tianxia Monthly. From 1942, he held positions as a professor, department head, and library director at Fudan University's Department of Foreign Languages. In 1956, he became the director of the Logic Teaching and Research Office, the Foreign Philosophy Teaching and Research Office, and the Western Modern Philosophy Research Office at Fudan University, as well as a national supervisor for doctoral candidates in the history of Western philosophy. Starting in 1958, he served as a member of the editorial board of Cihai and the chief editor of the foreign philosophy section. In 1979, he became the deputy chief editor and chief editor of the volume on the history of Western philosophy for The Great Dictionary of Philosophy. His major translated works and writings include A Short History of Western Philosophy, Critique of Agnosticism, Introduction to the History of the Universe, Selected Works of Einstein, Selected Works of Newton's Natural Philosophy, The Collected Works of Wallace, The History of Natural Sciences (by I. Bernard Cohen), The History of Western Philosophy (volumes 1 and 2, edited by him), and others.
