Features: This book is organized and compiled by the Teaching Materials Office of the Ministry of Health as the national higher vocational education cultural foundation course teaching material planned by the Ministry of Health, intended for use in five-year unified clinical, nursing, medical imaging technology, and oral technology programs. Guided by the "Guidelines for Curriculum Reform and Teaching Material Construction Planning of Vocational Education Towards the 21st Century," this book is based on the objectives of higher vocational education, with the aim of comprehensively improving students' qualities. It focuses on enhancing students' cultural literacy, facilitating their learning of professional courses, and meeting the requirements for diverse career paths. The book emphasizes the combination of ideological, scientific, advanced, inspirational, and applicability, taking basic chemical knowledge, theories, and skills as the main thread. Adhering to the principle of "pragmatism as the foundation and sufficiency as the limit," it integrates chemical principles with practical applications and appropriately introduces the role of chemistry in advancing high-tech fields, its applications in life sciences, and the development and cutting-edge theoretical knowledge of chemical science. Chemistry is an important cultural foundation course in higher vocational education. The main content of this book includes fundamental chemical concepts, theories, and their applications, the structures, properties, and applications of various elements and their compounds, as well as chemical calculations and basic laboratory operations. The book is structured for 140 teaching hours, with 114 hours dedicated to theoretical content and 26 hours to experimental content. The theoretical section is designed based on students' prior knowledge, highlighting the description of key points in a progressive and accessible manner. The experimental section emphasizes "methods and skills," which helps improve students' hands-on abilities. Additionally, aligned with the characteristics of chemistry teaching, the book provides guidance on learning methods, reflecting the students' central role in the learning process. During the compilation process, the book received strong support from the institutions of the authors and relevant experts, for which sincere gratitude is expressed. The authors also extend heartfelt thanks to the original authors of the referenced literature.
