Four-panel comics come in many types and styles, but the key to attracting readers always revolves around three "ones": "one" sharp, "one" laugh, and "one" seamless. Ye Shi's The Wait is a standout in this genre of comics. Renowned writer Wang Zengqi once had an opinion on "fiction": Fiction is about life, not making up stories; fiction must be sincere, without tricks. Of course, fiction requires skill, but rhetoric must be rooted in sincerity. In fact, no art creation can escape this iron law. What makes The Wait special is that it conveys the authentic essence of life. The characters in this life include fathers, mothers, sisters, teachers, and classmates; the life involves TV, electronic toys, exams, and homework. Through Ye Shi's delicate and profound observations, you can't help but admit that she understands children, understands adults, and understands our society.
