Features: "Mechanics of Materials 2" is a national-level planning textbook for the 15th Five-Year Plan of general higher education. "Mechanics of Materials 2" can be used as a textbook for multi-credit Mechanics of Materials courses in engineering undergraduate programs in higher education institutions, as well as a reference for teachers and students in vocational and technical colleges, adult colleges, and engineering professionals. In addition to "Mechanics of Materials 2" as the main textbook, related teaching resources include "Multimedia Courseware and Teaching Reference for Mechanics of Materials Classroom Teaching," "Study Guide for Mechanics of Materials," "Online Homework and Query System for Mechanics of Materials," and "Online Course for Mechanics of Materials." This book is a national-level planning textbook for the 15th Five-Year Plan of general higher education and was revised based on the first edition (a 21st Century Curriculum Textbook and a national-level key textbook for the 9th Five-Year Plan of general higher education). The first edition won the "Second Prize of the 2000 China Higher Education Science and Technology Award (Textbook Category)" and the "Second Prize of the 2002 National General Higher Education Excellent Textbook Award." The second edition maintains the theoretical system and characteristics of the original version. The authors of this book have made active explorations in properly handling the inheritance of traditional content, the introduction of modern scientific and technological achievements, and the transmission of knowledge as well as the cultivation of abilities and qualities. The textbook features new content and a new system, emphasizing both fundamentals and engineering applications, as well as the cultivation of students' abilities. It is also convenient to use with reduced teaching hours. The book has the following features:
(1) Reflects the modular course design and textbook characteristics, facilitating teaching arrangements and selection.
(2) Focuses on highlighting the essence of problems, overcoming the repetition and complexity of traditional Mechanics of Materials textbook systems.
(3) Introduces new materials, new calculation methods, new concepts, new theories, and new experiments, with special attention to modernizing the discussion of certain classic content.
(4) Overcomes the common weakness of traditional textbooks that emphasize theory over application by including examples and problems closely related to engineering practice and daily life.
(5) Strengthens the application of computers, arranging examples and exercises solved using computers in many chapters. The book is divided into two volumes: (I) and (II). "Mechanics of Materials (I)" covers the basic part of Mechanics of Materials, involving the basic and combined forms of beam deformation, including strength, stiffness, and stability issues. "Mechanics of Materials (II)" includes the advanced and extended part of Mechanics of Materials. This book is also the main textbook for the "3D Teaching Package for Mechanics of Materials," accompanied by "Multimedia Courseware for Mechanics of Materials Classroom Teaching,"..
