Features: The Green Home Journalist Salon is a classroom where journalists who are concerned about the environment improve their understanding of nature and the environment. For journalists who lack awareness of environmental issues, the salon helps raise their environmental consciousness and deepen their understanding of nature. The Green Home Journalist Salon is also a platform. Here, journalists exchange information, get to know each other, foster friendships, and discuss actions.
Trees by the Beijing Jingmi Diversion Canal are to be cut down. A volunteer witnessed this and felt deeply concerned. After the journalists at the salon learned about the news, they worked together to report it to the relevant authorities, conducted separate interviews, and wrote articles, hoping that the axe used to cut trees would never be raised again.
The Beidai River, an important wetland for bird migration in Northeast Asia, is planned to host an international conference center. When one journalist heard about this, they raised the issue at the salon, and the group took action again. It wasn’t until the matter drew the attention of the top leadership in Hebei Province that this bird paradise was finally preserved.
When developers targeted the largest wetland in the suburbs of Beijing, the journalists at the salon remained active. Driven by their sense of mission and the convenience of their roles, they ultimately ensured that this reed marsh, originally designated for a golf course, would become a future wetland park in Beijing.
Every individual who contributes to the Green Home Journalist Salon knows that it is a volunteer lecture.
