Features: This journal primarily publishes problem-oriented scientific academic achievements, especially articles related to China's foreign relations, to promote research in China's international relations. It strives to publish articles that clearly describe international phenomena, discover patterns of international behavior, scientifically predict international trends, systematically create international relations theories, or propose feasible strategies. This issue includes 5 problem-oriented papers and 1 academic review. Sun Xuefeng's article, "The Strategic Effects of China's Policy toward the United States," attempts to answer the question of what strategies China can adopt to effectively respond to U.S. strategic pressure. The author compares the different effects of China's strategic appeasement policy, strategic coercion policy, and economic inducement policy toward the United States. The findings show that the strategic appeasement policy has a weak effect in alleviating security pressure but can reduce political pressure from the United States; the economic inducement policy has a weak effect in resolving economic pressure but can also reduce political pressure from the United States; and the economic inducement policy has a significant effect in resolving economic pressure and related political conflicts. The author argues that the main reasons for these different effects of the various strategic policies are the changes in the international system structure and the enhancement of China's relative power. Therefore, China can adopt a cooperative-first strategy toward the United States in other issues, but it cannot expect to gain cooperation from the United States on China's critical security issues through strategic appeasement.
