Features: This collection of piano pieces, compiled to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the nation, was finally edited and published under the leadership of Professor Zhou Guangren, Head of the Piano Department at the Central Conservatory of Music, with the efforts of all the faculty members. In recent years, the piano industry has developed rapidly. If the popularization of pianos in the early days was like a gentle stream, today it has become a vast river. Under these circumstances, there is always a sense of unmet demand for piano sheet music, especially for Chinese works. Everyone longs for the birth of a comprehensive collection of Chinese piano pieces that also reflects a high professional standard. Therefore, the publication of this collection is a great event, and we sincerely express our gratitude to the publishing department for this.
This collection includes outstanding works by middle-aged and elderly composers from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, as well as creations by a group of young composers from the 1980s. The older generation of composers in our country has devoted hard work to developing the piano industry of our motherland, creating and arranging many excellent piano works. The national spirit and rich national characteristics embodied in these works have not only nurtured generations of young pianists in our country but have also added brilliance to world music culture. The works of young composers, though currently little-known, demonstrate great originality in their creative techniques, a deliberate pursuit of musical atmosphere and sound effects, and their efforts to integrate Western writing techniques to express the national spirit. These are all highly valuable explorations. Many of these works have also won awards in international and domestic competitions.
We believe that the publication of this collection will enrich the piano repertoire on China's musical stage and provide opportunities for teachers, students, and performers to study and understand new works. We also hope that the publication of this collection will inspire composers to greater enthusiasm and creativity, leading to even better works in the future.
