Features: Biochemistry, in short, is the chemistry of life processes. Life processes are very complex, involving many aspects, such as the replication of genes, transcription, the biosynthesis of proteins, the metabolism of sugars, and intracellular signal transduction. This book is a part of the "21st Century Chemistry Series," aiming to concisely explain the various aspects of biochemistry. The book is divided into five chapters, with the introduction providing an overview of biochemistry as a whole by the author. The main content of biochemistry is arranged in the remaining four chapters. Among them, Chapter 2 on biomolecules covers a wide range of topics, from simple nucleotides and amino acids to the structure and function of biological macromolecules and supramolecular structures. Chapter 3 summarizes the content of material metabolism. Gene replication, transcription, and molecular biology techniques are arranged in Chapter 4. In the latter part of the book, an attempt is made to briefly introduce the progress in people's understanding of biochemistry from the perspective of systems biology over the past decade or so. This book is suitable for researchers, university teachers, and students majoring in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, and related fields. It is also suitable for undergraduate students studying integrated biochemistry and molecular biology.
