Features: Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is an important channel for China to implement the "Go Global" strategy. FDI statistics are the foundation for promoting FDI and making scientific decisions. Through this book, readers can gain an in-depth understanding of:
- Practical methods of FDI statistics;
- The basic landscape of global FDI, the current status and experiences of FDI from developed industrial countries and emerging industrial countries;
- The current status, gaps, and potential of China's FDI.
From the implementation process of China's FDI survey statistics and the feedback from various stakeholders on the released data, it is evident that both personnel involved in specific statistical work and data users in academia and management still have certain issues in their understanding of FDI. There remains a lack of clarity on many fundamental concepts. Moreover, whether in international organizations or national practices, there is often a greater focus on attracting foreign investment and its statistics, with less attention paid to the statistics and analysis of FDI.
Clearly, this situation not only hinders the further improvement of FDI statistical work but also makes it difficult to apply statistical data to analysis and management decisions. The primary focus of this book is on the foundational aspects of FDI and its statistics: basic concepts, statistical practices, the basic status of FDI in various countries, and the fundamental realities of China's FDI, all to provide readers with a convenient understanding of the foundational knowledge in this field.
Although the book is organized according to the chapter structure of a textbook, each section is a relatively independent topic and can be read as a standalone paper.
