China Central Television has always attached great importance to teaching Chinese to foreigners and has produced a series of television programs for teaching Chinese to people of different ages and occupations in various formats. It has created opportunities for foreigners who have no chance to learn Chinese in classrooms or come to China, while also helping them gain the ability to directly understand China.
The textbook Communicative Chinese consists of 40 lessons (40 topics), published in four volumes. Each volume contains 10 lessons, with one lesson being a review lesson. The content of each lesson is primarily focused on spoken language. Through the daily activities of characters, situational dialogues are set up to reflect certain linguistic environments, enabling learners to gradually master daily communication skills in Chinese and develop interest in the language.
To help beginners understand the meaning of Chinese dialogues and quickly grasp communicative skills in Chinese, we fully leverage the advantages of television. We meticulously produce situational dialogues and provide pinyin, characters, and English subtitles for new words and common phrases on the screen. This allows viewers to see what they are learning, creating a language environment and striving to deepen their impression.
