Features: This book has the following features: First, among the extensive research on industrial competitiveness, systematic studies on the industrial competitiveness of western regions are relatively insufficient. Therefore, this book contributes to this research field with a certain degree of exploration, playing a role in paving the way for further studies. Second, the author employs many practical methods from economics, analyzing the impact of key factors on the industrial competitiveness of a country or region. Special attention is given to industrial industries, using indicators such as industry market share (calculated based on product sales revenue) and industry asset profit rate to empirically evaluate the industrial competitiveness of western regions. The location quotient method is applied to identify characteristic agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industries, as well as characteristic industrial and tertiary industries that can be cultivated in each of the 12 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in western China. Third, the book explores and innovates on some specific theoretical and practical issues, such as the concepts of competition, competitiveness, industrial competitiveness, industrialization, and enterprise competitiveness. It discusses the characteristics of the path to new industrialization, analyzes the environmental conditions and practical foundations for cultivating industrial competitiveness in western regions, and researches the pathways for cultivating industrial competitiveness in western regions through new industrialization, cultivating characteristic industries, developing human resources, cultivating enterprise competitiveness, advancing institutional innovation, and leveraging the role of the government.
