World Politics and International Relations

Features: The purpose of writing this book is twofold. On the one hand, it aims to introduce new materials and perspectives on world politics and international relations from abroad to domestic readers, primarily college and graduate students. On the other hand, it seeks to effectively help them improve their ability to read English original works through the comparison of original and translated texts. The book primarily challenges some chapters from two textbooks on world politics and international relations published recently by American and British publishers, after minor, and includes corresponding Chinese translations for comparison. The two textbooks selected by the author are "International Relations: Trend and Transformation" co-authored by Charles W. Kegley and Eugene R. Wittkopf (1999, World Publishers, Inc.) and "World Politics and You" by Dancaldwell (2000, Prentice Hall, Inc.). There are many optional contents in the book, but due to limitations in length and structure, I have only selected several important issues such as relations between major countries, underdeveloped countries, international organizations, and international conflicts. Additionally, due to space and technical constraints, some photographs, tables, notes, and bibliographies in the original book have been omitted. For convenience of reference, an English-Chinese glossary of common professional terms has been compiled at the end of the book.
