Features: "The 21st century is the century of China," does it mean the century of China's manufacturing or the century of China's brands? For many years, the Chinese government has implemented an "foreign-invested-led" economic policy. Imagine if one day, when China's cheap labor advantage no longer exists, what will your business and the nation rely on? The starkly different economic structures and current situations of nearly simultaneously developed Latin American countries and neighboring South Korea seem to teach us nothing. "Foreign automakers provide technology and specialized expertise to add 'value' to the joint ventures with Chinese partners. In contrast, their Chinese counterparts, apart from providing low-cost labor and sales channels, contribute almost nothing to the actual operation and management." Perhaps Carlos Ghosn's remarks as the president of Nissan cannot make the Chinese automotive industry leaders who rely on policy protection blush, but it certainly makes other economists in the country ashamed. Without brands, we will only end up as others' backyard factories, and the current situation of Latin American countries is the future of China. Brands are not just a logo plus a slogan, but certainly need to do well these elements that accurately convey the connotation and positioning of the brand. Since the late 20th century, China's graphics industry has accumulated its own experience through learning from foreign works. Now, although still immature, it is no longer simple imitation. Today, as we get closer to the world, in terms of equipment and technology, we have caught up with the world (unlike other industries, which can use this as an excuse for being backward), what we need is the opportunity and platform to communicate with our peers and the world. We hope that the ChinaGraphics series of annual reports can help promote the growth of Chinese brands and witness the path graphics has taken in China. Brands may not be the responsibility of only business operators and advertising promoters; it should be a major event that the whole society pays attention to and supports the growth of. Graphics professionals must take the lead and take the right steps.
