Publish Date: 2005-01-01
Features: This is a reading journal covering nearly 200 books in Chinese and foreign languages. Unlike traditional reading notes, Huang Jiwei reviews the classics that accompanied him through many tedious moments, as well as many "extra-classics" often overlooked by readers, from an observer's perspective and with a trendy, hip language. The author has a keen eye, skillfully blending the world within and beyond the books, tradition and the present, classics and pop culture. He neither adopts a serious demeanor nor indulges in laziness or slickness. His profound insights often flow from a warm and affectionate pen, and his personalized interpretations of books frequently bring readers a thoughtful smile.
