This picture book series features a little mouse named "Tommy Mouse" as the main character, telling interesting stories about him and his animal friends. It includes a total of 12 books, with the first 6 released being: Tommy Mouse's Little Undershirt, Tommy Mouse Wants an Apple, Tommy Mouse's Another Little Undershirt, Tommy Mouse and Tommy Mouse, Tommy, Tommy, and Here Comes Tommy Mouse's Little Undershirt Again.
The text in this series often adopts repetitive, song-like dialogue, simple and straightforward. The illustrations are entirely pencil sketches, exaggerated and amusing. The narrative, imagination, and expressiveness are all strong—even just looking at the pictures, one can understand the story. The entire series fully embodies the charm of picture books.
Authors Takao Nakagawa and Keiko Ueno deeply understand children's psychology. They cut and paste small details from children's lives, guiding readers into a world of simplicity and innocence. This series was released in 1974 and became a hit in Japan for nearly 30 years. By February 2004, just Tommy Mouse's Little Undershirt alone had been reprinted 153 times.
This series was selected as the 21st "Good Picture Book" by the Japan School Library Association and won the 1975 Kodansha Publishing Culture Award for Picture Books and the 1975 Ministry of Health and Welfare Children's Welfare Culture Award. It is highly loved by both children and parents.

(Text) Takao Nakagawa was born in Kobe, Japan, and graduated from the Fine Arts department of Nihon University. His major works include Naughty Lala and The Soulful Picture Book, with Naughty Lala winning the Japan Picture Book Award.
(Images) Keiko Ueno was born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and graduated from the Fine Arts department of Nihon University. Her major work includes the adorable Tommy Mouse picture book series.
