Excerpt: On the menstrual cycle, the blood chamber of women descends in time. Wang Taifu said: The Chong meridian is the sea of blood, and all meridians meet in the morning. In men, it circulates and flows; in women, it stops and ceases, called the blood chamber. The Classics state: When the Ren meridian is unobstructed, the Chong meridian is full. Men circulate, while women stop. The circulating is without accumulation and is active; the stopping has accumulation and can be full, which is still. Without accumulation is yang, and is qi; with accumulation can be full is yin, and is blood. Therefore, being full, it overflows in time, called sincerity. Men use qi to circulate, so yang qi responds to the sun and rises once a day. Women use blood to fill, so yin blood responds to the moon and descends once a month.
