On this occasion of the re-publication, we extend our sincere gratitude to millions of readers across the country.
The Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiad (briefly referred to as Subject Olympiad) is a subject competition for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest scope, attracts the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of the Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on the Gold Medal Olympiad and Gold Medal School, covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential in the industry both domestically and internationally and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the Gold Medal Olympiad and Gold Medal School series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding textbooks means closely aligning with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements. This cultivates interest, develops intelligence, and enhances abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully selected examples that are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from one example to many, promoting cross-application of knowledge; emphasizing multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches to a single problem; and prioritizing the training of thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: A gathering of famous teachers and a collection of prestigious competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited distinguished professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and renowned Olympic medal coaches to co-author these books.
