Features: The splendid ancient seal and Han dynasty prints have left us tens of thousands of exquisite works, but the artists who created them did not leave their names, becoming a regret in history and also bringing certain difficulties to the identification of seals. There are also many graphic (or primarily graphic) seals in ancient seals and Han prints, which the ancients called "" (portraiture seals). However, their content is mostly based on figures and animals, not entirely portraiture, so calling them "graphic seals" is more accurate. Their representations are similar to today's paper-cutting, very naive and simple, attached to ancient seals. Additionally, during the period of ancient seals and Han prints, seals were often used for sealing letters, applying clay to the knot of a rope and pressing the seal onto the clay to create a "seal impression" (fengni). These seal impressions are attached to Han prints. Furthermore, considering the of ancient characters, all the annotations in this book use traditional characters or variant forms to reduce unnecessary confusion. Over five thousand seals in this book are selected from tens of thousands of ancient seals and Han prints.
