The outstanding contemporary calligrapher Mr. Liu Bingsen, with his exceptional skill in clerical script, and driven by a deep passion for The Art of War, completed this artistic creation—completing the calligraphic transcription of the entire text over more than three years. There are many extant versions of The Art of War, with slight variations in wording among them. During the publishing process, Mr. Liu and the editorial team meticulously revised the original text based on multiple versions.
Mr. Liu Bingsen currently holds positions such as Researcher at the Palace Museum, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Writers' Federation, Vice Chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, and Vice Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association. Despite his busy schedule, he took the time to create such a monumental work, which speaks to his rigorous scholarship and dedication.
On the occasion of our publishing house's 50th anniversary, we were fortunate to obtain this precious manuscript from Mr. Liu. With the purpose of serving the national defense cause and contributing to the economic and cultural development of the country, we have published this manuscript as a limited-edition reproduction on Xuan paper, accompanied by a side-by-side comparison of the original text.
