Features: "New Century Practical English" is a planned textbook for English in higher vocational and technical education under the Ministry of Education. The writing of this textbook is based on the "Basic Requirements for English Curriculum Teaching in Higher Vocational and Technical Education" issued by the Ministry of Education in 2000. It emphasizes the tool nature of language, highlights the cultivation of interpersonal communication skills, reflects the characteristics of vocational education, and aims to train applied talents for higher vocational and technical colleges. This textbook is part of the "New Century Practical English" series, consisting of 12 units. Each teaching unit is composed of five parts: dialogues, texts, exercises, key unit points, and supplementary reading materials. In addition to listing vocabulary and phrase lists for each lesson, a comprehensive vocabulary and phrase list for the entire textbook and supplementary reading materials is provided at the back of the book. Grade A vocabulary is marked with ★, and Grade B vocabulary is marked with , making it easier for students to find and master. The entire "New Century Practical English" series consists of four volumes. After 180–220 teaching hours, students will meet the Ministry's basic requirements. For the convenience of teaching, each volume is accompanied by a teacher's reference book, a student exercise book, and audio cassettes. In the student exercise book, the content follows the principle of combining the question types of the A and B level exams with the content of each unit in the textbook, which helps review and consolidate teaching content and lay a foundation for students to take the A and B level exams. This textbook is suitable for three-year vocational college students and can also be used as a self-study book for English enthusiasts with the same English proficiency.
